Vermont Business Magazine The University of Vermont Medical Center, the anchor academic hospital for the UVM Health Network, has again earned recognition as Vermont’s top hospital with 10 high performing specialties and procedures by U.S. News & World Report, which released its annual “Best Hospitals” rankings this week. In addition, three local Network hospitals in Vermont and Northern New York were recognized for high performing specialties and procedures.

“I continue to be so proud of each and every person working in the UVM Health Network, and their unwavering dedication every single day to ensuring we provide the highest quality care to our patients, families and communities in the face of ever-evolving challenges,” said John R. Brumsted, MD, CEO of the UVM Health Network. “We came together as a Network to pool our expertise, our people, and our resources to set this rural health care system apart from the rest, while preserving access to health care for our region, and this recognition is a reminder that the strength of our health system comes from every organization in it.”

The University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vt., was recognized as the No. 1 hospital in Vermont, and was also recognized as high performing in the following procedures and conditions: kidney failure, heart attack, heart failure, colon cancer surgery, COPD, hip fracture, hip replacement, stroke, pneumonia, and transcatheter aortic valve replacement.

“Our care teams and supporting staff are focused on delivering the highest quality and safest patient- and family- centered care possible, to every patient we serve,” said Stephen Leffler, MD, UVM Medical Center President and Chief Operating Officer. “I’m grateful that everyone’s hard work and dedication have been acknowledged and that so many of our specialty offerings and procedures have been highlighted.”
